Welcome from Drew
PITCHERS and CATCHERS
I watched the interview with the new pitching staff for the Phillies. They have been variously called the Phab Phour, the Phour Aces, the Phour Horsemen, and other colorful names. Of course, there is a fifth starter who played a part in the press interview who has been pretty much neglected, but the way the four aces played things out, it is pretty clear that forgetting the fifth guy is not going to be in the cards, so to speak.
It is time for a new season to be prepared. Workouts and interviews and hopes and dreams and all of the things that go with a new season are in the works. It is exciting. Anticipation for this season is rising to a fever pitch. I have been a Phillies fan since 1956; I have never seen this kind of excitement.
Something new is afoot. New possibilities have everyone champing at the bit to get going. It is that way with a new season. Everything is fresh. Everything is possible.
At Glading, we have just passed the New Year, and we are looking forward to the Lenten season to begin soon. We are preparing for a new season in the life of the Church too. We are approaching a season which affords us a new beginning.
Is that not what we want? A new start? Do we not want a marker in time when we have permission to leave behind us what drags us down and to start out afresh. What is it worth to you to be a truly new person?
There is no time like the present. Lent is made for that. Forget the old memories of a drab season and think of Lent as a time to start anew. Think of it as permission to leave the past behind. Everything is possible for you now. Everything is open.
It is time to be the person you want to be. It is time to begin. Now.
Think of it as spring training. It's time to get moving. Come on along for the ride.
