Christine Callaway

ChristineChristine is a seminarian at Palmer Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.  She is a Senior and will graduate in May ‘09.  Christine just started working at Glading as a Student Pastor this fall.  She is very glad to be at Glading. (Feel free to groan at the bad pun.)

Christine’s home church is Narberth Presbyterian Church in Narberth, PA.  She spent the past year as the student pastor at Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia where she taught the confirmation class, preached monthly and sat in on various committees.

Christine has 5 children. Brendan, 27, who lives in Philadelphia and works for C. E. Franklin, Inc., Rachel, 25, who lives in California and works for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Laurissa, 23, who lives in southwestern Virginia with her husband Josh , both are full-time students, Russell, 20, who lives at home and works at Delancy Street Bagels and Daniel, 16, a student who attends Lower Merian High School.  In addition to Russ and Daniel living at home, two friends, Hunter Weigent, 18, and Josh Bessey, 19, live with them.

Besides people, Christine’s house is filled with pets.  There are two dogs; Tasha, a German shepherd and Roxie, a Belgium shepherd-border collie mix.  Along with the dogs are four cats; Lucky, Allie, Pumpkin and Cleo.  (Hey, this is a decrease from how many pets there used to be!)

Christine grew up in New Jersey (no Jersey jokes please!) and came to Philadelphia originally to attend nursing school.  When nursing proved not to be the right fit for her, Christine earned an Associate’s degree in Computer Programming from Philadelphia Community College.  After having four children, Christine earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Cabrini College.  Child number five came along during this process somewhat interrupting it and Christine returned to computer programming instead of teaching.  Having started seminary as a part-time student, when the company she was working for was sold and provided a good termination package, Christine answered the call to full-time seminary studies.  The money ran out a long time ago but God has provided in many different ways and she has been able to continue to answer this call.

Christine came under care of the Presbytery in January of 2007 and is a Candidate.

Christine enjoys reading, outdoor activities and spending time with friends.
